Delete your Sudoku account and data
This page explains how to delete your account in the Sudoku app for Android, what that deletes, and what is kept. The full picture of what the app stores is in the privacy policy.
In the app
- Open Sudoku and tap the settings (gear) icon on the home screen.
- Scroll down to Data and tap Delete account & online data.
- Read the list of what will be deleted and tap Continue.
- Tap Delete permanently. If you signed in with Google, the button says Confirm with Google instead — choose the same Google account you signed in with, so the app can check it is really you.
You need an internet connection. Deletion takes a few seconds, and when it is done the app returns to a fresh start. If the connection drops part-way, Settings shows Finish deleting your account the next time you open it — tap it to complete the deletion.
What is deleted
From our servers (Google Firebase):
- Your account (the Firebase Authentication account — anonymous or Google-linked), and the app’s access to your Google account
- Your cloud backup: stats, achievements, daily-challenge history, preferences and display name
- Your unique username
- Your leaderboard times
- The challenges you created — anyone who has the code will see “not found”
- Your results in other players’ challenges
On your phone: saved and in-progress puzzles, stats, achievements, daily-challenge history, settings (back to their defaults), and scheduled daily reminders.
What is kept
- An anti-abuse counter. A small record of when a score was last submitted and how many were submitted that day, stored under your account’s random identifier with no name or contact details. It enforces the limit on score submissions, so the app is not allowed to delete it (otherwise anyone could reset their own limit at will). Once your account is deleted it cannot be linked back to you.
- Live 1v1 match records. These are stored under the match code only, so they cannot be looked up by player. They include the display name you played under and each player’s progress, and are deleted automatically within 7 days of the match’s last activity.
- Other players’ results in your challenges. Results a friend submitted to a challenge you created are their data, not yours. They are no longer reachable through the app once your challenge is deleted.
- Analytics and crash reports. These are not linked to your account and are kept under Firebase’s standard retention settings (see the privacy policy).
If you can’t use the app
If you have uninstalled the app, lost your phone, or the in-app option doesn’t work for you, email chandradutt@kavachvpn.com with the subject “Delete my Sudoku data”. Include the display name or username you used, and — if you signed in with Google — the email address of that Google account, so we can find your data, and we will delete it.
The same applies to scores or challenges made from an earlier install, or before you signed in to a Google account you had already used on another phone: those were made under a different random identifier, so the in-app deletion can’t match them to your account automatically.
